Recycled materials and seven Trolls create a fairy tale for a Belgian forest.
In the past, Thomas Dambo has built gorgeous giant sculptures in several countries. He once filled a Copenhagen forest with gigantic giants and placed six moody trolls within the Chicago Arboretum. He has now built his own fairy tale inside the forest of the De Schorre Provinciaal Recreatiedomein in Boom, Belgium.
Furthermore, Dambo has written and performed a song that tells the story of the trolls.
“In my latest project, I combined all of the above. Recycling, Rapping, Nature, and Sculptures The project is called “The 7 Trolls and The Magical Tower” it’s a fairytale. Told through sculptures and words, hidden in a forest, all made of recycled materials. I know it sounds a bit confusing, but watch the video and it will all make sense.”
It’s incredible what Thomas Dambo creates by building giant trolls and hiding them in forests.
If you’ve never heard of Copenhagen-based artist Thomas Dambo, you’re in for a treat.
Thomas Dambo Dambo uses recycled materials to craft enormous fairy-tale-inspired trolls.
In his own words, “I build giant wooden trolls around the world and hide them in wilderness and forests. By doing this, I hope to lure people away from concrete cities and computer screens. Go Into the wild and reconnect them with the natural world.”
The trolls are as awe-inspiring as you would imagine a giant wooden troll to be in terms of their whimsy, sheer size, and impressive construction after having seen them in person.
It doesn’t hurt that many of these installations are literally hidden throughout the world, so finding them can be quite an adventure.
