The pit bulldog breed was bred to compete and compete in dangerous events just for human entertainment in the 1800s. Most of the time, their only purpose was to be bait for bulls that were then killed in bullfights. Blue Nose Pit Bulls and Red Nose Pit Bulls: Differences and similarities.

Blue Nose Pit Bull and Red Nose Pit Bulls

Origin

To begin learning about these two types, let’s look at their origin and history. A terrier and a bulldog were crossbred in the 19th century to produce the Blue nose pitbull. Also originally from Ireland, the Red Nose pitbull was enthusiastically imported to America.

Red Nose Pitbulls were bred by using a family of pit bulls with varied characteristics. Breeders called the Red-Nose Pitbull the “Old Family Red Nose,” in addition to being considered a particular strain of the pit bull. The Irish Old Family Reds were named such because of their recessive characteristics. Dog owners and breeders particularly admired this lineage.

Because of their slow demise, this type of pitbull is less well-known and owned today.

American Pit Bull Terriers

After emigrating to the United States, these red nose pit bulls were crossbred with other pit bulls, resulting in the American Pit Bull Terriers.

Pit bulls with red noses, even though they belong to an entirely different breed, are still called Red-Nosed pit bulls. Compared to the Blue nose pitbull, however, it was less appreciated for its history and heritage.

Major Physical Traits – Blue Nose and a Red Nose Pit Bull.

Besides the coat colour and nose colour, the two dogs have a number of other characteristics that make them stand out.

  • Genetic recessive genes play a major role in this, and they are inherited from both parents. The name comes from the fact that the breed with a red nose is called a Red Nose Pit Bull, while the breed with a blue nose is known as a Blue Nose Pit Bull.
  • The dark blue hue of the skin surrounding the nose and the sides of these dogs’ faces makes them appear visually appealing.
  • Because of their muscular build, red nose pit bulls may appear more intimidating than blue nose pit bulls. Despite this, there has been a history of over-breeding and misuse of the breed, primarily for violent reasons, which adds to the negative perception of the breed.
  • A red nose pit bull can, however, be an exceptionally friendly, soft, and loyal companion if trained and loved. Stocky frames are characteristic of all pit bulls.
  • Their heads are large and intimidating. As a result, most people prefer to walk away rather than pet these creatures. They are entertaining if you give them a chance.
  • Other than height, weight, and build, both types tend to be similar.

Colour Difference

Red nose Pitbull vs blue nose Pitbull

  • Most pit bulls have black noses, but blue nose pit bulls are distinguished by their blue-hued noses. Their colour differences make them stand out from one another. The rest of their physical characteristics are similar.
  • Blue nose pit bulls have a bluish-gray coat due to a gene. Dogs with this gene have lighter skin colours, as well as lighter noses.
  • Due to its attractiveness, most dog lovers are immediately drawn to the Blue Nose pitbull. The Blue nose pitbull is therefore very valuable to dog breeders, as they can sell them for higher prices. The high price of these dogs is justified by their status as ‘rare’ breeds.
  • Due to their similarity to Red Nose and other pit bulls, despite their beauty, they are not considered rare.
  • Pit bulls differ slightly from each other in terms of personality, colour, and traits. Blue nose pit bulls are commonly viewed as more aggressive than others, which is not the case. Behaviour and aggression of the dog are unaffected by genetic variation.

Price of Red and Blue Nose Pit Bulls

  • The act of adopting a dog is noble, but if you cannot find a pit bull for adoption, some people may decide to buy one.
  • When you decide to buy one of these dogs, you need to consider both the price and the difference between the two breeds.
  • It is obvious that prices will rise as demand increases. As a general rule, pit bulls are in demand all year long.
  • The “Old Family Red Nose” pit bull is particularly more expensive than normal Red Nose or Blue Nose pit bulls.
  • In the past, blue nose pit bulls were more expensive, but this has drastically changed over time. Both types of pit bulls have also experienced price fluctuations.
  • It has become increasingly difficult for pitbull enthusiasts to find and adopt red nose pit bulls, as they are rarely bred.
  • Red nose pit bull prices have skyrocketed due to this trend. There is a high demand for red nose pit bulls, but there is a low supply, so the breeders are unconcerned about the sky-high prices.

Are red-nose Pitbulls dangerous?

  • Pitbull Terriers are possibly the most controversial dog breed there is. Dogs have a range of reactions, from awe to fear!
  • Crossing the street to avoid walking past one, or crossing the street to ask if they can pet one, is a common practice.
  • Since Pitbull Terriers have been used for fighting and guarding, their public perception has been tainted by their past.
  • Nevertheless, there are many people who treasure this powerful companion.

So how do we separate fact from myth?

If you plan to take a puppy home, how can you be sure that it won’t become a danger to your family and friends?

Many large dogs are potentially dangerous despite their breed, regardless of size.

Pitbull Temperament – are Red Nose Pitbulls aggressive?

Blue Nose Pit Bull and Red Nose Pit Bulls

There have been many complaints about the temperament of pit bulls in general. This seems somewhat undeserved, however.

Red-nosed pit bulls prefer to be around people, not just children. They are very loyal to their owners and may bark at strangers. Pet owners must reciprocate the love shown to them. Pitbulls are therefore sometimes useful as service and therapy dogs.

In spite of the fact that most pit bulls are known to be ferocious or aggressive, blue nose pit bulls are particularly soft and loveable. To get them to listen to you and be sweet, you simply need to encourage and train them.

  • Researchers found that Pitbulls are not likely to attack people in a study on dog aggression.
  • The breed was, nevertheless, found to attack other dogs much more frequently than any other breed.
  • It makes sense in this case, considering historically Pitbulls were bred to fight large animals and other animals, not people.
  • Many Pitbulls are adopted as family pets without causing any problems despite widespread criticism.

Physical Strength and Health

Allergies, heart disease, and cataracts are some of the most common health issues pit bulls face. You should be prepared to ensure your dog’s health if you plan to adopt or buy a pit bull.

Blue nose pit bulls, in particular, may experience vision and hearing issues due to a recessive black pigment dilution. Additionally, this dilution can cause excessive hair loss, sensitivity to the sun, or allergies. Exercise should be provided for both dogs through walks or play sessions in the backyard or a nearby park. In comparison to blue nose pit bulls, red nose pit bulls require a bit more socialization and training.

Solid food should be given to pit bulls between four and eight weeks, depending on health requirements. Both pit bulls require a similar diet. There are several food items that should be fed to animals, including beef, poultry, pulverized vegetables, corn, etc. Avoid feeding them a high-carb diet, as it can make them obese. It is still acceptable to eat a diet rich in fibre.
