Names and nicknames
The model was renamed VW Kleinbus and Volkswagen Transporter but still gained the nickname Bully. Generally, it is referred to as VW bus, a minibus, a hippiemobile, hippie bus, hippie van, a “combie”, Microbus, or Transporter in the US.

Hippie vans production
On 31 December 2013, Brazil ceased production of its last Type 2 factory, the Type 2 T2 series, due to increased safety regulations. In 2002, its successor, the T3, was discontinued (in South Africa), marking the end of the era of rear-engine Volkswagens, which dates back to 1935 and the Type 1 prototype.
