The United States alone has over 14,000 different McDonald’s locations – and they serve a lot of customers. If you take the combined total of customers from locations around the world, Mcdonald’s serves over 69 million people per day!
McDonald’s has a Hamburger University

Located in Chicago, Illinois, this University provides you with a degree in hamburgerology – and yes, that’s a real thing! The World’s Smallest McDonalds is only 492 square feet.
The smallest Mcdonald’s in the world is in Tokyo, Japan and measures only 42 square meters in size. Of course, this is the world’s smallest Mcdonald’s for humans. The smallest version of Mcdonald’s is a tiny replica found in Sweden, built specifically for the bees.
Originally, McDonald’s didn’t hire women
Back in 1959, Ray Kroc told the associated press that he “did not hire women to help”. The fear was that they would attract ogling young boys and would create an uncomfortable environment for families. Once women finally were hired in the mid to late ’60s, Kroc noted that they must be “flat-chested” and that they could not work the grill.
The Guinness World Record goes to Don Gorske
In 2016, Don Gorske set the Guinness World Record for the biggest Macs eaten. In 2016, Don was recorded to have eaten 28, 788 Big Macs. He then ate 2 Big Macs per day until May 4, 2018, when he ate his 30, 000th Big Mac.
McDonald’s has a secret menu
Not feeling what’s on McDonald’s regular menu? Why not try something off of their secret menu? From the Monster Mac to the Pie McFlurry, the McLeprechaun Shake, and the Big Mac Sauce fries, there are lots of non-conventional options to choose from on this top-secret menu.
McDonald in Paris has white arches
McDonald’s is famously known for its golden arches, but in Paris, the arches look a little different. Designed to blend in, the arches in Paris are white. Sedona, Arizona also dives outside the norm with turquoise arches that represent the colour of the sky.
There are some very unique McDonalds around the World
Most people think of Mcdonald’s as being pretty clear-cut, and it’s true, most Mcdonald’s are created with similar designs. But there are some pretty unique McDonalds around the world too. In Sweden, for example, there is a resort that has a ski-thru instead of a drive-through. And in Vancouver, Canada, there was once a “charge” (or floating McDonald’s). Sadly, it now floats abandoned.
McDonald’s is banned in some parts of the world
Despite the widespread popularity of Mcdonald’s around the world, there are some nations that have completely banned it. On the list are Macedonia, Bermuda, and Kazakhstan.
